"Despite the efforts by some new materialists and speculative realists to distance their thinking from Deleuze’s philosophy, his concepts and ideas figure prominently in the writings of numerous authors related to the above-mentioned academic trends and schools of thought. Given the fact that Deleuze has continuously been critical of a purely linguistic constructivism – and much of his philosophy (including, of course, his collaborative work with Guattari) is focused on material becomings and assemblages rather than meaning and signification – it seems only natural that proponents of the current materialist trend would draw on his ideas. Unsurprisingly, therefore, Deleuze is an important point of reference in the writings of Steven Shaviro, Manuel DeLanda, Rosi Braidotti, Jane Bennett, Elizabeth Grosz, Levi R. Bryant, Isabelle Stengers and Bruno Latour, among others."
"It is obvious that Marxist materialism was an important influence throughout much of his philosophical career."
